Dutch tenor Linard Vrielink is a regular guest on Europe’s leading opera and concert stages, receiving praise for his “bright, flamboyant tenor” (The Guardian), “enchanting vocal elegance” (Das Opernglas) and “velvety pianissimi and voluptuous legato” (premiereloge).
In 2026/27, he makes his house and role debut at Opéra national de Lyon as Le prince in Laurent Pelly’s new production of Prokofiev’s L’amour des trois oranges, presented later in the season at Opéra national du Rhin. He performs Don Ramiro/La Cenerentola with Nederlandse Reisopera and reprises the role of Arbace/Idomeneo at Staatsoper Berlin. In concert, he debuts as Nigel in the rarely performed opera Les Fiancés de Rosa by Clémence de Grandval at Konzerthaus Berlin, returns to Het Residentie Orkest for performances of Bach’s Matthäus-Passion under Jan Willem de Vriend, performs a Mozart programme at Prague Opera and appears at the Recital Hall of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in a Classical Highlights programme.
Most recently, Linard made his house and role debut at the Glyndebourne Festival as Jonathan in Barrie Kosky’s acclaimed production of Saul, conducted by Jonathan Cohen, which was followed by performances with the Handel & Haydn Society and at Oper Köln, as well as a recording with Arcangelo. He sang the role of Prism in the world premiere of Marc Blitzstein’s Parabola and Circula with Norrköping Symfonieorkester at the Philharmonie Berlin and appeared at Bregenzer Festspiele and Staatsoper Berlin in several roles in Janáček’s The Excursions of Mr. Brouček. He also returned to De Nationale Opera Amsterdam as Hirt/Seemann in a new production of Tristan und Isolde, conducted by Tarmo Peltokoski, and as Arbace in a new production of Idomeneo, conducted by Laurence Cummings. He reprised the role at Theater Luxembourg under the baton of Fabio Biondi.
His wide-ranging opera repertoire also includes Tamino/Die Zauberflöte (Bergen National Opera, Theater Bern), Ferrando/Così fan tutte (Orchestra of the 18th Century), Jaquino/Fidelio (Opéra Comique and DNO Amsterdam), Le Berger/Oedipus Rex (DNO), Fenton/Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Janek/Makropoulos Case and Leukippos/Daphne (Staatsoper Berlin), Asle in the world premiere of Peter Eötvös’ opera Sleepless (Staatsoper Berlin, Theatre de Geneve, Müpa Budapest), Almaviva/Il barbiere di Siviglia (Bregenzer Festspiele), Don Basilio/Le nozze di Figaro (Staatsoper Hamburg), and Hirt, Seemann/Tristan und Isolde (Festival d’Aix-en-Provence).
Concert highlights include Mozart’s Krönungsmesse with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Kirill Petrenko, Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri with the London Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms, Arbace with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Brouček with the London Symphony Orchestra, all under Sir Simon Rattle.
He has also performed with the Gürzenich Orchester, Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble, Nederlands Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Choeur Accentus, Noord Nederlands Orkest, Nederlands Kamerorkest and worked with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Marc Minkowski, Thomas Hengelbrock, Ivor Bolton, Peter Dijkstra, Thomas Gugeiss and Richard Egarr.
Recordings include a Mozart album with Ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon (Harmonia Mundi) and Moments of Vision, featuring his own composition, released by Decurio.
Linard Vrielink is a graduate of Berlin’s Universität der Künste, where he studied with Prof. Elisabeth Werres. As a student, he made his debut at the Staatsoper Berlin as Scaramuccio/Ariadne auf Naxos and was subsequently invited to join the house’s prestigious Opera Studio.
