Young Dutch tenor Linard Vrielink holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Universität der Künste (UdK) in Berlin, where he studied with Prof Elisabeth Werres.
Whilst at the UdK, he made his debut at Staatsoper Berlin as Scaramuccio/Ariadne auf Naxos, appeared as Federico/Stiffelio at the Konzerthaus Berlin and as Oronte/Alcina at Kammeroper Rheinsberg, sang the European premiere of Mohammed Fairouz' oratorio Zabur with the Bochumer Symphoniker, joined Ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon for a Mozart programme and performed Schubert's Stabat Mater and Beethoven's C-major Mass with Thomas Hengelbrock and the Balthasar-Neumann Ensembles in Spain.
Between 2017 and 2020 Linard Vrielink was a member of the Opernstudio at the Staatsoper Berlin, where his roles included Junker Spärlich in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor, conducted by Daniel Barenboim, Don Basilio/Le Nozze di Figaro under Marc Minkowski, Seemann/Hirte in a new production of Tristan und Isolde, conducted by Daniel Barenboim, Scaramuccio, 3. Jude/Salome, 4. Knappe/Parsifal, 1. Priester/Die Zauberflöte, 1.Soldat and Konsul in a new production of L’incoronazione di Poppea.
Elsewhere, he has appeared as Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Bregenzer Festspiele, Don Basilio at Staatsoper Hamburg and, most recently, gave his debut at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence as Hirt/Seemann in a new production of Tristan und Isolde, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle.
Concert engagements include Schubert’s Mass in A flat with Choeur Accentus at Opéra de Rouen, Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël with Thomas Hengelbrock and the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensembles on European tour as well as with the Nederlands Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, conducted by Ed Spanjaard, Bach’s Messe in h-moll with Ivor Bolton and the Balthasar Neumann Ensembles, Orff’s Carmina Burana at Konzerthaus Berlin, Rossini’s Stabat Mater at the Kasseler Musiktage and Bach’s Matthäus Passion with the Noord Nederlands Orkest under Peter Dijkstra. He has recorded works by Mozart with Ensemble Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon, released in 2019 by Harmonia Mundi under the title ‘Libertà!’.
In 21/22, Linard Vrielink will give his house and role debut as Jaquino/Fidelio at Opéra Comique in Paris, conducted by Raphaël Pichon, and return to Staatsoper Berlin for the male lead in the world premiere of Peter Eötvös’ new opera Sleepless, also shown at the Grand Théâtre de Geneve and MUPA in Budapest, and his role debut as Fenton in Die Lustige Weiber von Windsor.
In concert, he performs Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri with the Staatskapelle Berlin and Sir Simon Rattle, Beethoven’s Symphony no 9 with the orchestra of Theater Kassel and for Dutch Television, works by Haydn and Honegger as well as the role of Désiré in Giordano’s Fedora, both with the Nederlands Radio Filharmonisch Orkest. He will return to the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence at the end of the season in a new opera production, this time as Arbace from Mozart's Idomeneo.
